General Setting
Le Logis du Paradis is a lovely old complex of buildings dating from 1712, including its former Cognac distillery, built around a large, enclosed, classic Charentais courtyard. It is set in the charming, sleepy hamlet of La Magdeleine on the banks of the small river Né in the midst of the vines of the Grand Cru Grande Champagne Cognac region; famous for the very best Cognacs and Pineaux.
Close to the pretty town of Barbezieux 10 minutes drive away which has an exit from the main Angouleme – Bordeaux dual carriageway, the RN10, yet only 30 minutes from historic Cognac and the attractive, busy city of Angoulême with its TGV station and shortly its airport served from London, within easy reach of four other international airports (Poitiers, La Rochelle, Limoges and Bordeaux), Le Logis du Paradis is the ideal location for a tranquil and stimulating stay.
We are surrounded by small Cognac and Pineau producers who will be happy to welcome you for visits and tastings. There are local markets virtually every day and trips available on the peaceful river Charente where one hardly meets a soul. We can advise on ideal cycling, walking or gentle touring routes locally amongst the vineyards. Or something further afield, taking in the coast with the Islands: Ré, Oleron and La Rochelle, the vineyards of St Emilion or Medoc, the Dordogne etc. etc...
